In a world where far too many things are thrown away instead of repaired, we are committed to sustainability, community, and practical craftsmanship here in Straelen.
What is reparierbar Straelen e.V.?
We are not a traditional repair service. Instead, we are a community of volunteer repairers and tinkerers who believe in sharing knowledge.
During our regular Repair Café events, we help you repair your items—free of charge, in a relaxed atmosphere, and over a cup of coffee.
We don’t repair your item for you—we repair it with you. This gives you a better understanding of how your device works, and next time you may be able to fix it yourself.
Every item saved from the landfill conserves valuable raw materials, reduces CO₂ emissions, and saves you money.
Our Repair Café is also a place where people from Straelen and the surrounding area come together. Alongside tools and technical know-how, we share stories, ideas, and a sense of community.

Our Service at a Glance
Learn how you can help promote sustainable repair and actively contribute to protecting our environment with reparierbar Straelen e.V.
Step 1 – What We Repair
Together, we repair:
Household electrical appliances, Consumer electronics, Lamps, Toys, ….and many other portable household items. All repairs are carried out exclusively on-site.
Please note:
Please bring only clean items. Coffee machines, kettles, and similar appliances should be thoroughly descaled before your visit.
Bring everything that belongs to the item, including power supplies, rechargeable batteries, disposable batteries, and, if available, the user manual.
We repair one item per visitor during each session. If time permits at the end of the event, you may register an additional item with a new repair form.
Please allow plenty of time and bring a little patience.
Step 2 – The Repair Process
Check in at reception. (Please note that waiting times are possible.)
You will receive a repair tracking form, which you will be asked to sign.
Relax in the waiting area, enjoy a cup of coffee, and have a chat.
When a repair station becomes available, one of our volunteers will invite you to the workbench.
During the repair, one of three outcomes is possible:
1. Successful Repair
Your item is repaired during your visit.
2. Beyond Repair
Unfortunately, the item cannot be repaired. You simply take it home with you.
3. Spare Parts Required
Sometimes replacement parts are needed.
Our volunteers will help identify suitable spare parts online. If replacements are available, you will receive a note listing the required parts and where they can be purchased.
Once you have obtained the parts, simply bring both the item and the replacement parts to a future Repair Café, and we’ll install them together.
After your repair is complete, please return your repair tracking form at reception.
Donations are always appreciated but entirely voluntary.
Important Information
We are guests in the facilities of Café Marienpark.
Because we do not have storage space, we cannot keep your items or spare parts until the next Repair Café. Likewise, we are unable to accept donated used parts.
Please note: During repair appointments, we are happy to offer communication in German and English. For all other languages, you will need your own interpreter or a working translation app.

Our café is the heart of every Repair Café. Whether you enjoy making coffee or simply creating a welcoming atmosphere, you can help make every visitor feel at home while they wait.
Reception & Organization
Be the friendly face that welcomes visitors, assists with registration, and helps keep everything running smoothly.
If you enjoy organizing and meeting people, this role is perfect for you.

If you enjoy it and would like to become a regular volunteer, we’d be delighted to welcome you.
For insurance purposes, regular volunteers must become members of the association so they are covered by our liability insurance while volunteering.
Membership is completely free and can be canceled at any time without difficulty.
